India-based OEM Farmtrac, part of the Escorts group, unveiled its all-electric compact tractor working prototype – the Farmtrac 26 4WD Electric – at Agritechnica yesterday (November 13, 2017). The machine is the first of its kind to come out of India. It will be built just outside New Delhi, and aimed particularly at the European and North American markets, although available globally, within the next 18 months. It runs for six hours on a single charge and takes 6-8 hours to fully recharge the lithium-ion LFP battery, although a 70-75% recharge can be achieved in three hours. It delivers power of 26hp (19kW) and will be ideally suited to light work anywhere where emissions are a concern, including indoors.
