John Deere is future-proofing its agricultural business with the announcement of several senior promotions.
Since January 1 this year Dennis Docherty (above) has taken over from Christoph Wigger as vice-president of agriculture and turf sales and marketing for Europe. Wigger (below) has been promoted to vice-president of global crop care platform for the group’s agriculture and turf division globally.
Since Docherty joined John Deere in 1998 he has held numerous roles with increasing responsibilities in sales, strategic planning and marketing for both the construction and forestry, and agriculture and turf divisions of the company.
In his most recent role as director, ag & turf global marketing, Docherty oversaw global planning focused on an innovative product and production system portfolio. The most prominent products launched under his leadership include the 5R Series, 6230R, 6250R, 8400R and 9RX Series tractors, in response to European customer requirements.
Wigger joined John Deere in 1991 and has held several roles of growing responsibility in sales and marketing. For the past 11 years he has led the successful transformation of John Deere’s sales and marketing organization as well as the Dealer of Tomorrow strategy in Europe, the CIS, North Africa and the Near and Middle East.
In his new role, Wigger will focus on expanding the company’s crop care portfolio with special emphasis on precision agriculture, as John Deere seeks to further grow its business in this area. He will also define growth strategies for recently acquired companies such as PLA, Mazzotti and King Agro, and drive the introduction of Blue River’s precision farming technology.Â
