Mecalac Group is increasing its compact wheel loader business with the acquisition of Pichon’s brand of the machine.
The construction equipment manufacturer’s takeover of the French company will see the range of six-wheel loaders added to the existing range already produced by its German-based manufacturing plant Mecalac Baumaschinen.
Pichon, based at Landivisiau in Brittany, France, will cease production of the machines, which provide power output of between 26hp and 75hp, as of January 1 next year. The company will instead concentrate on its core business of agricultural machines that transport and spread liquid and solid materials.
At the same time, Mecalac, based in Annecy, in the Haute-Savoie region of France, has reached an agreement to continue producing and distributing the six-wheel loaders in the color and badge of the Pichon brand.
Henri Marchetta and Alexandre Marchetta, president and CEO of the Mecalac Group respectively; and Philippe Pichon and Michel Pichon, president and founder of the Pichon company respectively, were in attendance at the meeting that finalized the deal.
Henri Marchetta said, “We are very pleased with the agreement which allows the Pichon company to continue its development in the agriculture sector, with a technically upgraded range of machines while also allowing the Mecalac Group to expand its product offer.
“With this addition, Mecalac becomes one of the largest suppliers of compact wheel loaders in the market.”
