Hyundai’s forklift range has been expanded with the launch of a compact but powerful new heavy-duty diesel model. The 160D-9L heavy-line forklift slots in between the company’s 160D-9 and 180D-9, offering extra load capacity, improved safety and operator comfort.
With a lift capacity of 16 tonnes and a load center of 1,200mm, the chassis is the same size as the 2-tonne heavier 180D-9 model. Powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 engine, the vehicle has a 122kW output at 2,300rpm.
A Hyundai spokesperson said, “The forklift is designed for heavy-duty applications to move large, heavy material such as timber, lumber, containers, concrete products and steel products.
“The Cummins Stage IV compliant engine is ultra-low in emissions it uses a diesel oxidation catalyst and a selective catalytic reactor (SCR) where ad blue is used as an additive to achieve Stage IV emissions. This combination of DOC and SCR reduces downtime and in turn makes it ‘hassle free for the operator’.”
The forklift includes a ZF full-automatic transmission, along with a Kessler front axle to provide good handling as well as smooth gear shifting. It is also equipped with a load-sensing hydraulic system with variable displacement pumps, from Bosch Rexroth, which means the vehicle’s power is used more efficiently and that fuel consumption is minimized by as much as 10%, depending on the application.
