Claas, 365FarmNet and John Deere have developed a direct cloud-to-cloud data solution called DataConnect. The product enables customers to exchange data via a common interface as well as control and monitor their entire machinery fleet using their preferred data platform, while also being able to transmit data from other machines via the new interface. The data will remain available in the John Deere Operations Centre, CLAAS Telematics or 365FarmNet portals, but can be exchanged in real time from one cloud to the other, all the necessary machine configurations being available in one system.
Machinery data, including current and historical machine location, fuel tank level, current working status and forward speed can be exchanged and in due course transmission of agronomic data should also be possible.
The official launch of DataConnect is scheduled for summer 2020, but visitors to Agritechnica 2019 will be able to gain some insight into its operation on the CLAAS, 365FarmNet and John Deere stands.
Interested agricultural machinery manufacturers and software providers, as well as associations and standardisation committees, are invited to become involved by helping develop the interface, which is designed to support existing industry standards.
