Powell Electronics (booth 918) is debuting its 1000BASE-T1 ethernet switch for high-speed ISOBUS (HSI) and interconnect applications at iVT Expo Chicago.
The PAS88160007 offers seven ports of sealed single-pair ethernet connectors with IEEE802.3bp Type A (15 M) and Type B (40 M) supported. Active link and passive link partners can be connected over a 1Gb/s network backbone. The system is ideal to connect smart cameras and displays over long lengths with additional controllers involved, and features TC9 Class 2 shielded interfaces with IP67 and IP69 sealing performance.
The switch enables high-definition data sharing across many devices and is suitable for many applications using IEEE 802.1. There are many advantages to using an HSI GbE switch. The Powell PAS88160007 offers automotive suppliers long life roadmaps with no development costs or new tooling requirements.
The solution is already in the field, vetted and tested. The Powell HSI switch is ready to be used on vehicles immediately. As 1000BASE-T1 becomes widely adopted via international standards (ref. ISO 23870), there are cost advantages from economies of scale. Using common materials and processes within existing volumes of other manufacturers will drive costs down over time.
Strong technical understanding and circuit reuse from existing products reduce the risk of failure, with test data available upon request.
