Volvo has recruited Hoganas CEO Melker Jernberg as its new president of the Construction Equipment division.
Jernberg moves from the Swedish powder metallurgy company where he has been for three years. Prior to that, he spent 22 years at Scania and an additional three years at the Swedish steel manufacturer SSAB, where he was executive vice president and head of the EMEA (Europe, Africa and the Middle East) business region.
Jernberg will assume his new role at Volvo Construction Equipment and as a member of the Volvo Group Executive Board from January 1, 2018. He will replace Martin Weissburg who, due to family reasons, is returning to the USA and will take up a position as senior advisor to Volvo’s president and CEO, Martin Lundstedt, based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
“Martin Weissburg has, through his strong leadership, been key to considerably improving the performance of Volvo Construction Equipment and he will continue to have senior positions within the Volvo Group. Weissburg will remain in his position until year end 2017 and will take up his new position as senior advisor to me during the course of Q1 2018,” Lundstedt said.
