JCB’s new range of excavators, the JS 300, JS 330 and JS 370, will be powered by fuel-saving Rolls-Royce engines, the MTU 6R 1000.
The EU-Stage IV- and EPA Tier 4f-compliant power units are already powering JCB’s 457 wheel loader but it will be the first time Rolls-Royce has supplied engines for an excavator.
The six-cylinder engines deliver up to 210kW in power and will provide a 10% fuel-saving compared with the outgoing model. The JCB machines weigh between 30 and 37 metric tons.
MTU’s vice president for industrial business including construction and agriculture, Bernd Krüper, said, “Use of our engines in JCB’s new excavators marks our entry into another very important and high-volume segment of the C&I market, and we are very proud that JCB is choosing to endorse our EU Stage IV-compliant units. This is another step forward in our long and successful partnership.”
The JS370 will be unveiled at the ConExpo trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 7-11, 2017.
