Komatsu HB215LC-2
Since the first launch in 2008, over 2.500 Komatsu hybrid hydraulic excavators have been sold worldwide, and now the OEM will introduce the third-generation of the HB215LC-2, with an increased operating weight of 22.550kg and a bucket capacity of 1,68m³, to the European market.
“Customer satisfaction is the rule,” said Jim Venerus, deputy general manager for European Product Marketing at Komatsu Europe. “The KOMTRAX monitoring system shows that our customers are saving, on average, 25% fuel with their Komatsu hybrid machine, along with a significant reduction of CO2 emissions.”
By refining the hybrid technology, Komatsu has further improved fuel efficiency on the HB215LC-2. The machine is powered by the revolutionary Komatsu Hybrid System, which works on the principle of swing energy regeneration and energy storage. It includes Komatsu’s electric swing motor, power generator motor, ultra-capacitor and a powerful 104kW (139hp) SAA4D107E-2-A diesel engine. Komatsu’s Ultra-Capacitor provides fast energy storage and instantaneous power transmission.
The kinetic energy generated during the swing-braking phase is converted to electricity, which is sent through an inverter and captured by the Komatsu Ultra Capacitor. When accelerating under workload conditions the captured energy is discharged quickly for upper structure rotation and to assist the engine as commanded by the hybrid controller. The reserve power stored by the hybrid technology represents additional horsepower that is available to maximize machine performance by supporting the engine, or is used for swing power.
Hybrid components on the HB215LC-2 are covered by a five-year or 10,000-hour special warranty.
Yoshihiro Kobayashi, product manager for hybrid excavators at Komatsu Europe, confirmed, “We estimate that the extra investment into a Komatsu hybrid machine can typically be recovered in two years or less.”
Magni RTH 5.35S
With the introduction of the RTH 5.35S, Magni is claiming the highest working height rotating telehandler in the world which at 34.7m provides a maximum lifting capacity of 2.2 tons.
The boom is the biggest innovation of this model, consisting of six elements with two cylinders for extension and lifting, both of them placed on the outside, so that on the inside there are just hoses and pipes. Therefore they have more space available to move during extension and retraction of the boom, and this avoids accidental hose breakages.
Another novelty is the way in which the boom is managed by the software: the first four sections are activated by the cylinder placed on the upper side of the boom and they move proportionally with the chain extension system. The fifth element, which is the bigger and the heavier, is managed by another cylinder placed on the lower side of the boom, which works in a proportional way to the boom angle; so the more the angle increases, the more the element extends. This extension system has been developed to keep a good load capacity on the wide horizontal reach, otherwise the weight of the fifth element would negatively affect the load capacity of the machine.
Dressta Special Feature Requests
Dressta will demonstrate its customer-focused approach to manufacturing construction equipment, highlighting some bespoke solutions for Special Feature Requests (SFRs) across a range of applications. Its offering of Application Packs also provides modified ancillary specifications to ensure the machines are aptly equipped for the most challenging scenarios.
This philosophy will be highlighted in the form of Dressta’s three-model line of Landfill and Mining models: the TD-25M LA Extra, TD-20M LA Extra and the TD-15M LA Extra, all of which feature excellent waste compaction capability and large blades with a trash rack and single or multi-shank rippers. The variety of environments in which landfill equipment is used means that SFRs are common in the specification of these machines. One example is the hydraulically driven reversible fan that allows self-cleaning of the cooling module. The reverse cycle of the fan can be programmed manually and automatically, eliminating dust and dirt build-up in the cooling system. Similarly, the installation of Trimble Ready Grade Option technology can be requested to assist the machine operator in achieving maximum project efficiency.
Other developments have included a mild detergent spray system to disperse flies in Indian landfill sites, and a sump that can be winched up and down to clear obstacles, Howard Dale, vice president for global sales at Dressta, told iVT.
Sennebogen 640 HD
With the addition of the 640 HD to its current E-Series, Sennebogen will provide a new duty-cycle crawler crane for numerous applications in the areas of well digging, underground engineering, and mining, as well as for use as a crane.
The 640 HD has therefore been specially designed for demanding, dynamic applications with a number of equipment variants. With its powerful 186kW Cat diesel engine that offers impressive fuel efficiency and a safe working load up to 40 tons, the machine opens up a broad range of applications. With its robust construction, a powerful multicircuit hydraulic system, and the strong slewing drive, the 40-ton duty-cycle crawler crane is particularly well-suited for special civil engineering work.
Equipped with rope grapple or drag-line bucket, the Sennebogen 640 reveals its strengths in hydraulic engineering and mining applications as well. Here, two 12-ton or optional heavy-duty 16 ton freefall winches ensure optimal pulling force. With maximum boom lengths to 41.1m and auxiliary jib and fly boom as options, the duty cycle crawler crane is also ideally equipped for use as a crane with safe working loads up to 40 ton.
With the crawler undercarriage telescoped in, the machine has a width of just 3m. With an uppercarriage length of 6.62m, the 640 HD can be transported easily and cost-effectively via flat-bed trailer. The total weight with lower boom section is just 38.7 tons, which can be further reduced to 30.5 tons in four easy steps. Thus, a normal flat-bed trailer suffices for safe transport.
