Designers at AMV have delivered new styling for Chinese OEM Sunward’s SWE 25U excavator. The R&D team at Sunward briefed AMV to provide a new style that would help their vehicle attract attention and stand out from competitors, as well as improve its functionality. The results will be on display at Bauma China, taking place on November 22-25, 2016, in Shanghai, China.
The SWE 25U model was chosen for restyling as it is one of the market-leading excavators in China that Sunward is now looking to promote in Europe and the USA. After a style and ergonomics analysis, AMV pinpointed the main operation aspects that would ensure the best results while respecting customers’ requirements in terms of technological production processes, regulations and maximum dimensions.
Key improvements were made to the following aspects of the vehicle:
Exterior Style Line: The concept is characterized by rounded shapes and hollow surfaces inspired by current stylistic themes of both industrial and automotive world. It is worth noting that the rear hood design is symmetrical, with stretched sharp lines extending to the machine side, where air inlets for cooling are hosted. The zero tail swing not only gives a sleek line to the model, but it also makes it extremely easy to maneuver and able to work in very narrow spaces.
The Cabin: The design satisfies operator’s needs in terms of comfort and performance. ‘Mini’ by definition, it is the result of an attentive study of space optimization. The external stylistic themes were applied to the interiors as well, matching lines and shapes that confirm to be compact, firm and functional.
Maintenance and Safety: The rear engine hood can be easily lifted upward thanks to a parallelogram system reinforced by two gas springs. The side engine hood has a large opening near the radiator, which is covered by a grid. Both compartments are easily accessible, thus turning engine, hydraulic system and other main component maintenance into a simple, quick and safe operation.
The new SWE 25U will debut at Bauma China 2016. The innovations introduced that are going to be applied to the whole of the excavator’s line have already raised great interest.
