Following the showcasing of several models at the 2015 Intermat exhibition in Paris, Liebherr-France SAS will launch its R 950 Tunnel crawler excavator, which will replace the R 944 C Tunnel. The new machine has compact size, adjustable height and focuses on the safety and comfort of the operator.
The Liebherr R 950 Tunnel has an operating weight of approximately 45 tons and a diesel engine that delivers power up to 150kW/204hp, with optional models offering 190kW/258hp. The engine also satisfies the exhaust gas emissions of Stage IV/Tier 4f.
The diversity of tools provided by the R 950 Tunnel further enhances the productivity and flexibility of the machine. A specific hydraulic system for mounting cutting heads enables an increase in power, hydraulic oil flow and optimized cooling of the hydraulics. Tool changes are carried using the hydraulic quick coupler, while the flow rate, pressures and return of flow are adjusted from the cab.
The R 950 Tunnel also enable working in confined spaces because of its height adjustment facility that can adapt to tunnel heights of 5-8m, and automatically stops while adjusting to avoid collisions. The R 950 Tunnel includes other safety features including a short radius of gyration, rear and lateral cameras, and an ROPS integral structure that protects the operator. Two cab choices are available enclosed and open; the latter removes the windshield and side windows.
