Ditch Witch has announced the launch of its compact, but powerful, drill to help utility contractors increase productivity.
The JT40 horizontal directional drill (HDD) provides operators with 14% more power in a smaller package than rivals, according to the Charles Machine Works company.
The unit comes with a Tier 4 Cummins diesel engine that delivers 119kW of power, while a two-speed rotational drive system produces 7,457Nm of torque and minimizes pipe-entry distance giving operators increased dill pipe support as it enters the ground. Additionally, up to 600ft of drill pipe can be held on board.
Equipped with two 7in LED displays for direct, transparent views into all critical machine functions and diagnostics, the JT40’s real-time carriage-position indicator also informs the operator of its exact location. A multi-functional, radial operator control is highlighted and tracker information is integrated into the display screens, enhancing visibility into all jobsite functions.
Ditch Witch senior product manager for horizontal directional drills Seth Matthesen said, “The JT40 represents the future of horizontal drilling. The unit integrates machine data into an innovative display to keep operators informed and productive on the job. As with all of our products, we continue to seek customer feedback to improve uptime, profitability and performance, and this machine features several new pending patents to do exactly that.”
A fully-enclosed cab is available, as is an ergonomic seat with extended legroom positioning the operator at a 45 angle so visibility of the jobsite and all critical vision points is provided.
