Danfoss has introduced new, valuable options for its innovative reverse displacement motor (RDM). The expanded RDM option portfolio increases both functionality and customer value.
The open circuit piston motor offers reverse circuit functionality without external valves an unprecedented hydraulic system solution for mobile equipment applications.
With wider product options, the RDM can be designed to meet customers’ individual needs, increasing function and value. It enables customers to achieve power savings of up to 10%, a 15% average reduction in total system cost, and reduced system complexity.
New RDM options provide customers with more functionality through control options and increased displacement. The compact motor now features 38cc, 45cc, speed sensor and 24V valve options. The new increased displacements afford the RDM compatibility with larger machines, a new speed sensor option provides more precise system efficiency control, and the 24V valve enhances the RDM further to accommodate additional electrical designs.
A 12V or 24V integrated proportional shifting valve allows smooth, on-the-go reversing using system pressure, and the simplified design eliminates the external valves and pressure supply required in typical reversing solutions, as well as eliminating the associated cost and pressure losses.
The RDM is complementary to the Danfoss Series 45 open circuit axial piston pumps, PLUS+1 micro-controllers and DP700 PLUS+1 mobile machine displays.
It is ideal for fan drive systems in tier 4 agriculture, forestry and construction equipment applications as the reverse functionality of the RDM enables the fan to purge trapped dirt and debris, restoring cooling efficiency. Danfoss fan drive packages including the RDM can be tuned to meet the unique cooling requirements of tier 4 equipment applications.
“At Danfoss, we’re dedicated to being our OEMs’ strongest partner in mobile hydraulics,” said John Heller, product marketing manager, Danfoss Power Solutions. “We know OEMs depend on our expertise, and we’re pleased to offer a variety of options for the RDM, so each customer’s specific needs are met.”
