Compared with its leader 988K loader, Caterpillar’s new electric drive loader the 988K XE delivers 25% greater overall efficiency and up to 10% more productivity in load-and-carry applications.
The new Cat 988K XE is Caterpillar’s first wheel loader to utilize a high-efficiency electric drive system. Delivering high-production in loading applications, the cost-effective 988K XE is recommended for applications where fuel efficiency makes a difference in the machine’s total cost of operation.
The new 988K XE increases efficiency by 25%, and by up to 49% in face-loading applications, compared with the older 988K model. This reduces costs and helps operations reduce greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint.
The standard 988K XE wheel loader is performance matched to offer efficient three-pass loading of the 42.6-ton (38.6-tonne) Cat 770G, and four-pass loading of the 51-ton (46.3-tonne) Cat 772. The high-lift configuration delivers five-pass loading of the 61-ton (55.3-tonne) Cat 773G, and six-pass loading of the 70.5-ton (64-tonne) Cat 775G.
Cat electric drive technology built into in the new 988K XE, lowers overall maintenance costs, while increasing the engine’s life expectancy. It offers extended oil change intervals of 2,000 hours and the electric drive wheel loader uses 40% less powertrain oil.
Although slight changes have been made inside the cab of the new 988K XE, operators will be familiar with its functions, which are similar to that of the 988K. When using the 988K XE, operators will also experience improved handling smoothness and ease of operation.
