Atlas Copco has announced the launch of a high-capacity haulage truck. The most recent addition to the Minetruck series of vehicles from the company is the MT54. Smaller than the MT65, the more compact MT54 has a 54-ton load capacity, as well as offering higher ramp speeds than its predecessor, the MT5020.
Marcus Lundbergh, global product manager for haulage trucks at Atlas Copco said, “The Minetruck MT54 is based on the very successful Minetruck MT65, so experience and reliability are built-in from the beginning.”
Minetruck MT54 also features Atlas Copco’s proprietary Rig Control System (RCS) – it is ready for automation and can be equipped with Certiq for added intelligence. The optional telematics system solution gathers and compiles data to help optimize operations and plan maintenance. “With its built-in smartness, this haulage truck is prepared for the future,” added Lundbergh.
Engineers working on the new haulage truck developed a front-axle suspension system that, combined with the ergonomic controls and low noise levels in the cab, enable the operator to operate the truck for long periods in comfort.
Powered by a Cummins QSK19 EPA Tier 2 engine, the unit offers 760hp at 2,100rpm, with a maximum torque level of 3,084 at 1,500rpm.
The 46,300kg vehicle has a 844-liter fuel tank capacity and load weighing system that enables optimized filling while reducing overloading.
