Ognibene Power, a leading company for hydraulic steering systems (actuators and steering units) since 1953, has received the EIMA International Award for Technical Innovation 2018.
The Ognibene team has developed an innovative DPS system – Digital Power Steering – capable of improving steering comfort, safety, productivity and the quality of operators’ work with agricultural tractors and construction, material handling, lawn and garden equipment.
The DPS is placed over the traditional steering system of off-highway vehicles, improving maneuverability and enabling the use of GPS and joystick or mini-wheel without any additional external steering system.
With the DPS system it is possible to change the feeling effort handled by the driver, making the steering stiffer or softer. The level of assistance can be speed dependent and selected by the driver acting on the DPS ECU personal settings through HMI devices.
For the first time, the driver has a state-of-the-art automotive steering experience, just like a next-generation car.
The main benefits are: direct integration with GPS guidance; steering wheel return also in reverse; re-centering; speed dependent steering assistance; programmable driving feel (synthetic boost curve); and haptic feedback on the steering wheel.
Ognibene Group has production sites in Italy, Brazil, India and China, as well as a logistics site in the USA and a commercial office in Japan. The facilities ensure the production of steering systems to the world’s largest OEMs.
