Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) has announced it will be presenting its technology on an intelligent prototype tractor at Agritechnica next month.
The SymonE is a battery-operated test vehicle, developed together with French supplier Dintec and is intended to demonstrate the abilities of STW’s electrical and electronic technologies on a working machine.
Machine specs
Fully electric, the vehicle is equipped with a compact 650V/90kWh battery supplied by Kreisel Electric. Additionally, STW’s in-house-developed 80kW powerMELA e-machine for the two-gear, all-wheel drive, and a second electric power system for braking and control of the hydraulics are also on board the tractor.
As well as efficient control units, a high-performance VSX terminal, SymonE, also has four cameras and a telecommunications module that provides extensive support of working processes.
SymonE has been developed on the basis of a conventional commercial vehicle, which allows the possibilities and added value facilitated through the integration of digitization, automation and electrification to be experienced. Here aspects such as Industry 4.0 or the Internet of Things (IoT), semi-autonomous driving, and working and e-mobility are addressed.
As a result, SymonE is, among other things, intended for tests on electrified attachment devices which are supplied at the AEF power socket (front and rear) and therefore offer manufacturers brand-neutral access to an electric tractor.
Designed with automation in mind
The demonstrator is also intended for the development of defined semi-automations and full-automations for the operator.
The supporting functions, such as the intelligent central electrics from the STW BCX family, and battery charging technology with CCS plugs, as well as further sensors such as those for pressure and temperature, are also indispensable.
The joint competence generated in electrical drive technology, intelligent control units and ergonomic operation; service-friendliness and cloud-based integration into operational logistics are to be demonstrated at the STW stand (Hall 15, Stand F49) at Agritechnica 2017, which is to be held in Hannover, Germany, on November 11-18.
