Aebi has responded to the wishes of its customers with a crawler track option for its range of transporters. Especially in particularly challenging mountainous regions, wheeled transporters can be immobilized when there is snow or wet ground. But now, a meter of deep snow is great fun to drive on.
Cross-country ski trails or sledging runs can now be reliably maintained with appropriate attachments, and transfers to ski huts or mountain stations can be performed comfortably and efficiently with the Aebi VT 450 Vario with crawler track and this is done with a maximum overall weight of up to 9.5 tonnes.
Another advantage of the new ‘all-rounder’ is its multifunctionality. Whereas special snowmobiles are only used in the winter months, with the Aebi VT450 Vario it is possible to switch from crawlers to wheels in just two hours, providing flexibility 365 days a year.
As well as areas of snow and ice, the crawler track is also suitable for use on delicate or wet ground. The special profile of the crawlers ensures that they run very smoothly and, thanks to the large contact area, the ground pressure is considerably reduced, which in turn protects the terrain below. The ground clearance is increased by around 120mm as a result of the crawler track being fitted, ensuring that the vehicle is not grounded and does not become stuck when it is used on boggy terrain even if the crawlers sink slightly into the ground. In addition, the crab steering can also be optimally used because the crawlers on the front axle and rear axle run in their own tracks and thus reduce the risk of sinking. The greatest possible traction is also guaranteed by the hydraulic torsion damping of the crawlers.
With a powerful 109hp (80 kW), a torque of 420Nm and a clean VM turbo diesel engine based on the Euro 6 Standard, the Aebi VT450 Vario also leads the way when it comes to being environmentally friendly and meets the strict requirements set by many car-free communities. A variety of versions with different attachments permit an almost unlimited number of possible uses as a refuse transporter, sweeper, mower, grit spreader or a vehicle equipped with a snow blower, snow plough, spray bar, hook lift or three-way tipper. Individual and specific customer requirements can also be catered for.
