Liebherr’s latest mobile construction crane arrives in Spain for the first time.
Grúas Serrat SA has become the first entity in the country to benefit from the MK 88 Plus following a handover at the crane company’s depot in the Catalun city of Barberà del Vallès in the north east of the city.
With a maximum lifting capacity of 8,000kg and a 2,200kg capacity at full reach, the machine has a 30.2m hook height and its 6-cylinder diesel engine provides 300kW of travel power enabling a top speed of 80km/h to the 48 ton-weighted crane.
“It’s a fantastic machine,” said Josep Vega, Grúas Serrat SA owner, seeing it as the perfect complement to his 80-strong fleet of cranes of different lifting solutions, and especially for inner-city operations. “For one thing, it requires very little space, can be positioned directly at the building and still has an enormous reach. As well as this, thanks to its electric drives, it is extremely quiet in operation – a particular advantage at night,” he said.
