Lieberr has created its 60,000th crawler excavator and in celebration of this historic moment, the construction giant presented a colorful version of its R 922 excavator – equipped with special panels designed by illustrator and graffiti artist Jean Linnhoff – to its staff on March 1.
Liebherr chose for the operator cab to remain white and the vehicle panels blue, in line with the company’s country of origin, France. Linnhoff designed the panels over a period of six days, harmoniously combining graphical elements and design.
The text on both sides of the machine reads “A cœur”, which translates as “to heart”. These words allude to the collaborative partnership with the Alsace Tourism Agency (Agence d’Attractivité de l’Alsace). Meanwhile, a world map across the R 922’s entire upper carriage acts as a reminder that the crawler excavator is sold all around the world.
Lastly, Liebherr employees who contributed their expertise to the colourful R 922 design were also recognized with the design including their written names on the undercarriage.
Liebherr has been developing and producing crawler excavators at its site in Colmar, France, since 1961. Initially, these machines were specially designed for earthmoving applications. The range was later extended with the addition of machinery for the mining industry.
