CeMat is to be run alongside Hannover Messe for the first time this year. The leading trade fair for intralogistics and supply chain management will take place from April 23-27 this year in Hannover, Germany.
“Together with Hannover Messe, we are crafting a unique knowledge platform for the digitization of the supply chain, featuring numerous best-practice solutions and innovations like nowhere else in the world,” said Dr Jochen Köckler, member of the managing board at Deutsche Messe.
Featuring about 1,000 exhibitors from around the world, CeMAT represents a fast-growing industry that in 2015 produced €20.1bn (US$22.5bn) worth of equipment in Germany alone.
The main drivers of this growth are e-commerce and integrated production – two trends that are placing enormous pressure on intralogistics systems, forcing them to become more intelligent, networked, flexible, transparent, fast and efficient.
In e-commerce, product orders tend to be small and highly individualized. In manufacturing, this is matched by growing demand for individualization in the form of one-off production. In both cases, customers want rapid turnaround and lower prices.
Meeting these expectations calls for new Industry 4.0-style solutions and the close, intelligent integration of production and logistics.
A CeMat spokesman said, “Together with major partners such as VDMA (Germany’s mechanical engineering industry association), BVL (Germany’s logistics association), the Fraunhofer IML Institute and the EHI Retail Institute, CeMAT will illuminate the opportunities presented by new Logistics 4.0 concepts while highlighting the latest best-practice solutions.”
