Organizers of Agritechnica have announced that this year’s event will focus on smarter farming methods and technologies.
The ‘Green Future Smart Technology’ theme of Agritechnica 2017 will be the first time in the show’s 30-year history that it has chosen a single topic to cover the entire event.
Recognizing the need for today’s agriculture to be sustainable in terms of ecology, economy and human resources, the exhibition will promote ways of helping farmers to achieve these targets.
Marie Servais, project manager of Agritechnica, said, “The new theme was chosen to evoke a number of meanings and moods. It not only taps into the idea of agriculture cultivating crops to feed the planet, but will also demonstrate how producers around the world are using clever ideas to drive agriculture forward.
“And, of course, the use of technology is central to today’s farming. New, smarter means of production will play a key role in a more profitable and sustainable future for agriculture.”
According to the show’s organizers, a smart technology is not necessarily high-tech, but is merely a way of better organizing specific jobs; reducing energy consumption; protecting the soil; optimizing nutrient and water use; and identifying/treating pests and weeds specifically.
As well as new technologies, exhibitors offering agricultural-related services and consultancy will also be on hand, while a broad technical program of shows, discussion panels and forums with experts will also be available to support farmers in practicing smarter farming methods.
“As the world’s leading farm machinery trade fair, it is the platform for the presentation of new developments in agriculture,” added Servais.
Agritechnica 2017 will be held on November 12-18 at Hanover’s Exhibition Grounds.
