The first Agritechnica Asia, a spin-off of the main Agritechnica trade show in Hanover, Germany, has been an instant success, according to the event organisers.
The event, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 15-17 of this year, saw 8,200 visitors from 76 countries pass through its gates and had 219 exhibitors. It was run alongside Horti Asia, the horticulture and floriculture trade fair.
Nino Gruettke, managing director of VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, said, “Agritechnica Asia, as the first spin-off of the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment, Agritechnica in Hanover, has become instantly established as a central forum for decision makers and experts from the fields of farming and agricultural technology”.
Philipp Schulze Esking, member of the DLG board of directors and chairman of the DLG exhibitions department, said, “The fact that over a third of the high-quality visitors came from outside the host country underscores the strong international nature of this new trade fair. We were thus able to satisfy the high expectations of the exhibitors.
“Our exhibitors see great opportunities for new business relations in the Asian market. They are convinced that mechanization and the use of modern machinery will increase substantially in the coming decade, driven above all by a growing shortage of labor, more intensive competition, and the resulting need to lower production costs.”
The next Agritechnica Asia will again be held together with Horti Asia and feature an extended ‘Hosted Buyer Program’. It is to be held on August, 22-24, 2018 in Bangkok.
