John Deere has confirmed new tractors and an updated Gator utility vehicle will be on its stand at AgriScot this year.
Taking place on November 15, 2017, the Edinburgh-based agricultural show will include both the 5R and 6R series tractors, as well as the revamped Gator XUV 865M featuring the company’s quietest ever cab.
Power and telematics
Offering power between 90hp and 125hp, the curved one-piece frame 5R has a low center of gravity and turning radius of 3.75m even when fitted with a front loader. In addition, the machine has front-axle suspension and, in the improved cab, now offers an air-suspended seat. Having a shipping weight of 4.3 tons, the 5R can still lift as much as 0.4 tons more than that weight.
The Stage IIIB, 4.5-liter, four-cylinder, diesel engine of the 5R produces an extra 10hp for transport applications, while three transmission options are available. A new automatic 32/16 Command8 transmission, with eight powershift-able gears and an ECO mode that provides 40km/h at only 1,759rpm.
The 6250R tractor, on the other hand, delivers as much as 300hp and JD Links telematics come as standard that include remote display access and wireless data transfer functionalities. One push or pull of the onboard Command Pro joystick allows the vehicle to be controlled from top speed to zero with no need for an external ISOBUS joystick as the tractor and ISOBUS functions can be operated simultaneously.
Weighing 9.3 tons, the 6250R has a power density of 31kg/hp and a maximum permissable weight of 15 tons enables a 5.7 ton payload.
The newly-styled Gator XUV 865M now has a more efficient heating system and a windscreen defrost feature.
Equipped with an 854cc, 23hp diesel engine, CVT transmission and power steering, plus a top speed of 50km/h, the XUV 865M offers a tight turning circle and optimal weight distribution for superior off-road performance. For extra versatility, it can be fitted with a wide range of over 90 attachments from snow blades to winches, and has a large 42-liter fuel tank to keep the vehicle running longer between fill-ups.
The adjustable driver’s seat can accommodate three people, for off-road use only. The versatile and durable cargo box has a load capacity of 454kg, while towing capacity has been increased by a third to 907kg and total payload capacity is 680kg.
The company’s latest work management apps make it very easy to keep track of machinery, get advice on seed and fertiliser rates or spray requirements, and monitor machine productivity by working together with, and being connected to, the dealer, farm adviser and other suppliers.
