Specialist in powertrains AVL will be presenting their e-tractor at Agritechnica for the first time. AVL has developed a flexible, cost-efficient and high-performing solution for small volumes and small-size tractors, and with autonomous driving functionality.
Electrifying tractors and utility vehicles is usually done by replacing conventional combustion engine with electric drive train. AVL develops the chassis with innovative, integrated and intelligent solutions. Structurally the chassis is divided into three main modules. The electric power module is located in the middle of the chassis to optimize the center of gravity of the vehicle. This arrangement, as well as the elimination of diesel engine and gearbox accommodates a sufficiently large battery capacity, allowing a purely electrical use for up to six hours in real conditions. Due to the higher power density, a fully electric commercial vehicle is equipped with a hydraulic system that enables vehicle internal functions such as steering, braking or the coupling and operation of equipment.
The e-tractor chassis will be featured with autonomous driving functionality and swarm technology. Core elements such as X-by-wire functionality, ADAS, swarm technology, smart power management, smart implement interface will become key drivers for future applications. By combining these elements in a new system architecture, the AVL e-tractor chassis will consolidate AVL’s position as a technological driver.
AVL will present its prototype chassis for electrified vehicles at Agritechnica in hall 15, booth F47.
