A John Deere tractor has played a major role in the setting of a new world record.
The 6250R managed to rake 188.9ha of grass on four different fields in eight hours under test conditions in Denmark. The company believes that the light weight, strength and ‘smart’ features helped in the record breaking by keeping up productivity even in hilly terrain.
The tractor was fitted with a Kuhn four-rotor Gyrorake GA 15131 with a working width of 14.7m, set the world record on a typical dairy farm in the Central Jutland region of Denmark. The record was validated by the DLG Test Centre after carrying out several spot measurements during the attempt. Forage quality was confirmed, as well as an average output of 23.6ha per hour.
The 6R Series tractor, driven by dairy farmer Mikael Skeldal, provided up to 300hp (maximum power with IPM) in the hilly field conditions. Also, the maximum operating speed of 22kph made a productivity level of 32ha per hour possible.
Skeldal said that he benefited from the CommandPRO joystick and appreciated both its ISOBUS compatibility to operate the rake as well as the ability to monitor operations via the Kuhn CCI 1200 terminal and WTK joystick. This enabled him to observe work in progress and optimise the rotor adjustment without any interruption to the record attempt.
