Zetor increases Kenyan ties

Zetor is playing its part in supporting the Kenyan economy as an increasing number of its tractors are to be sold in the country. Representatives from the Czech embassy, as well as the governors of the cities of Narok and Nakuru, took part in an official ceremony where a range of the company’s vehicles were presented.

The Proxima, Major and Forterra models, with power ranges of 80, 100, 120, 135 and 150 horsepower, were presented to Kenyan farmers, with the Proxima 100 and Forterra 135 proving to be most attractive.

The Kenyan economy relies on the agricultural sector, with 25% of gross domestic product attributed to it, and Zetor has noticed an increased demand for farming machinery in the country.

Commenting on the presentation, Lukáš Krejčíř, finance and sales director at Zetor, said, “Farming is the key area to create economic growth in Kenya; it is essential to reduce poverty and hunger. The numbers of farming machinery are growing in the country as well as the demand for the machinery. This also develops the market with high-quality tractors and farming machines. The offer of tractors we presented in Kenya matches the needs, which has been proved by the great interest of both farmers and bankers, who are concerned about the support of loans for farmers.”

The company has exported tractors to Kenya since 1965 and it is the fifth African nation Zetor supplies to, the others being Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Zambia.
