Deutz engine named diesel of the year

Deutz has confirmed that has been the recipient of another award for its powerful 9-liter engine. The TCD 9.0 has been announced as diesel of the year; the award ceremony is due to take place at Intermat 2018 in Paris, France (April 23-28).

The four-cylinder, in-line engine is capable of generating 300kW of power and 1,700Nm of torque and is part of a range of engines launched by Deutz recently. The engine platform has a standardized customer interface and an identical front and rear, with approximately 65% of parts common in the entire line-up. This has simplified the integration and maintenance of the engines.

Michael Wellenzohn, member of the Deutz AG board of management for sales/service and marketing said, “We are honored to be given the diesel of the year award, which demonstrates that the design of this drive system is a success. It is based on advanced technology and also considerably extends our upper power output range, thus catering for new applications.

“In the upper power output range, Deutz’s powerful new in-line diesel engines present the ideal solution for heavy-duty applications from both a technical and commercial perspective.”

The award was announced by Diesel magazine and follows the recent inclusion of the engine in the OEM off-highway magazine’s top 10 new products of 2017.
