Hatz appoints new CEO

Motoenfabrik Hatz has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO).

Bernd Krüper replaces the incumbent, Michael Schweigert, who was responsible for realigning the company, repositioning it to enter new markets and expanding the business of the H-series engines.

A business administration graduate, Krüper joins Motorenfabrik Hatz from MTU Friedrichschafen, where as vice-president he oversaw the construction and agriculture business. He was also previously at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, heading up its marketing and product management, and is known for both his market experience and expertise in propulsion technology in the off-highway and automotive segments.

Several senior figures at Hatz paid tribute to the outgoing chief executive. Gerhard Krottenthaler, chairman of the works council, said, "Our cooperation with Michael Schweigert was marked by a close and personal relationship, particularly in production. His sympathetic ear for employees' concerns, combined with the establishment of new and improved processes, led to a trustful relationship. We are now looking forward to the forthcoming cooperation with Bernd Krüper."

Wolfram Hatz, majority shareholder and chairman of the advisory board at Hatz, said, "In recent years Michael Schweigert has performed outstandingly and he has led our company with competence and responsibility. At the same time, we welcome Bernd Krüper as a very well proven expert and leader in propulsion technology, and we are looking forward to his contribution, our cooperation and the tasks we will undertake with him”
