Doosan to showcase reduced tail swing excavator

Doosan has confirmed that its reduced tail-swing crawler excavator is to be on show at the 2018 World of Concrete.

Displayed in the Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center in January 2018, the DX140LCR-5 will be configured with a quick coupler and hydraulic breaker, as well as the optional rubber track pads that minimize damage to concrete surfaces.

Offering a shorter tail-swing that allows operators greater flexibility in areas where space is restricted, without sacrificing performance, the crawler excavator has an operating weight of 15 metric tons.

A Doosan spokesman said, “The DX140LCR-5 excavator is designed for long life with an extra-sturdy frame and reinforced superstructure. The machine comes standard with permanently sealed and lubricated track links, and the workgroup bushings and hard-wear disks are designed for reliability as well as extended service intervals to increase uptime.”

The crawler excavator has a digging depth of 5,458mm, a digging reach of 8,285mm and a digging height of 9,265mm, equipped with a Perkins 1204F engine offers 85.9kW of power at 2,000 revs per minute and capable of a travel speed of 5km/h.

A standard 7in LCD screen allows operators to continue monitoring excavator parameters while viewing the rear-view or optional side-view camera image. Critical machine data appears next to the camera view. When the optional side camera is installed, a split screen allows both rear and side camera displays to be viewed at once.

To help save diesel fuel, auto shutdown is standard to reduce consumption during downtime periods. Operators can configure the idle time from 3-60 minutes. When enabled, the feature will shut down the excavator’s engine when the pre-set idle time is met.
