Mahindra & Mahindra acquires 35% equity in Sampo-Rosenlew

Sampo-Rosenlew is to begin a cooperation with multinational automobile manufacturing corporation Mahindra & Mahindra, part of the Mahindra group headquartered in Mumbai, India, in order to increase its combine harvester business especially in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The two companies will work closely to expand Sampo-Rosenlew’s markets worldwide and will jointly focus on developing the combine harvester business in India, China, Africa and the Middle East. Sampo Rosenlew will continue in its existing core markets independently and with its current partners, such as John Deere in Western Europe.

“With Mahindra & Mahindra we have an option to grow and make Sampo-Rosenlew a truly global player in the agricultural machinery business, as well as enter into the new market areas in which our own resources would not be sufficient,” said Jali Prihti, CEO of Sampo-Rosenlew.

“This strategic partnership with Mahindra & Mahindra is a natural step toward the world’s fastest growing markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, together with the strongest possible partner. With this collaboration, we aim to increase the manufacturing volumes in combine harvesters and components in Pori [Finland].”
